Facebook Account Error

Wow, this is frustrating.

If you can log in with Facebook but the person isn’t you, there’s a fatal error with your Facebook account. Your account has not actually been hacked, even though it may appear that way.

Most unfortunately, because this is a software bug in your Facebook account, it is very difficult to fix. However, you can try making edits to your account.

You’re probably going to have to delete your account and create a new one using your email address, but if you want to try to fix it here are some things you can try.

You can edit your location, delete and add photos, etc. Everything is editable except your age, but if you’re a Gold member we can do this for you. We intentionally make it difficult to edit so that people do not lie about their age. You will not be able to complete ID verification without the correct age on your profile.

If all that does not work, you’ll need to delete your DateID account and create a new one with email. You may need to use a different email address than the one associated with your Facebook account. You can delete your profile in your Account Settings.

Sorry about this. It’s Facebook’s fault. We’re frustrated, too.

If this has happened to you, and you have already paid for a Gold membership, you should request a refund by typing “refund” into the chat. Your Gold membership will not carry over when you create a new account.
